Anubis shook his pelt and yawned, turning his head to look at her once more. It was odd, to say the least. Of course, who was he to judge? He never really got a taste of cold weather until arriving here. The humid jungles had always been his home. Though, he couldn’t help but feel a twinge of self-consciousness as he realized that she did have more fur mass than he. His fur clung to his slender body, wet from rolling around in the snow. Still, he had a bit of a giddy demeanor. He hadn’t played like that in a very long time, though it was an odd thing, considering that he was still getting used to his wolf body. It still astounded him how quickly his instincts could take over and leave him breathless, unrelenting. He was getting more of a hold on it with passing time, though it still could catch him off guard at times. When her sneeze penetrated the silence, he smiled lightly and then cocked his head back at her as she spoke. ”Well, Brazil never got this cold, so I’m not used to it yet.” He snorted and turned his head in the direction of the cave set. ”It’s to the North. About a mile in that direction.” He pointed his nose toward where he was speaking of as he spoke, and then fixed his mahogany orbs on her once more.
A visible shiver took over his body for a moment, and he covered it up with a shake of his fur. Snow flew from his thin pelt and his tail twitched in annoyance with the powdery stuff. He had noticed the tone to her voice when she spoke of him being fluffier, and he couldn’t help but chuckle. Though, it ended rather quickly, dying down and fading once more into silence. He watched as she brushed past him, and he followed her with his eyes for a moment before limping after her. It was hard for him not to notice the contact they had made when she had passed him, and he, too, could smell his scent on her, along with her own estrus. Though, he brushed the thoughts aside for now. His dainty paws sunk in the snow as he limped after her, soon falling into step at her side. He was quite ready to get out of the icy chill of the wind, and despite his natural ways, was thankful for a bit of company. It had been a while since he had been in contact with any other living being. He usually stayed out of sight, and never drew attention to himself. But, he was a bit relieved at the change. At least for the moment.
He walked in silence, not really willing to strike up a conversation just yet. The winter put an eerie shush on the world, and his paw steps were muffled by the excessive amounts of snow. He was ready for the summer, when he could feel the humidity that he had been so used to. He figured he would return to his homeland eventually, but he was fine here for now. Though he wandered as a rouge, he had always been more accustomed to being alone than being around others. Any time he was around a great mass of wolves, it usually turned into a fight, and a fight was definitely not what he needed right now. So, he was content to simply limit his interactions. _________________________________

Another nod acknowledged the brujo’s retort though she already understood by his appearance that he originated from a more temperate climate. Vira herself was mostly, if not completely, bred as an Arctic wolf as she found no other excuse for her own appearance, which favored the male gender. On the outside, both she and Anubis favored the opposite extremes which accused them of being something they weren’t. This alone could easily unite them, as well as their callous demeanors and aggressive behaviors which may both be the result of their exteriors. The brute’s limp was no doubt seen as provocation by other wolves that targeted the weak, motivating him to act the way he did. Vira was naturally born that way as a human, always being hostile and in ill-content as if every day was a bad day. She was introverted and poorly socialized much of her life, both proving to be poor enablers and completely disabling any chance she may have at having a normal human life. As a wolf nothing seemed to change and although she was quite content to consider that gainsay with the comradery she seemed to have found with Anubis, the bitch quickly recalled the many allies she thought she had before.
Male or female, they all used her for something or the other; sex, hunting, defense. She found it peculiar when she realized an elder male sought her out simply for her charm or some youthful females wanted her to teach them. It all came down to being used, abused and thrown away. With no intention of the same thing occurring this time, Vira permitted her guard to return as she began to walk next to Anubis.
So, why don’t you want to join the Loyalists or the Pack?
While the silence was eagerly endured by them both, Vira had a keen interest in getting to know the brute better. She casually observed his limp as future reference, keeping in mind the unique print pattern he left behind. To herself, she admitted that her silent accusations of Anubis – both her assumptions and pinning him with vices that she had only encountered with other wolves thus far – was incorrect and even immoral. The fact that she understood this and could still barely manage to not permit that dark cloud to return caused her some irritation. Luckily she strayed slightly behind Anubis, permitting him to lead the way to this unknown cave so none of her thoughts or emotions had any chance of being seen should they be expressed eternally.
Feeling the atmosphere changing, she could sense that they were in fact heading north and possibly towards the mountains. Viradecthis quickened her pace so that she now strode equally alongside Anubis, but made no attempt to hurry along – nipping his injured leg gently in a message of her encroachment before walking in pace with him.

Anubis thought over her question thoroughly. He focused on the ground. Really, he didn’t identify with either one of the groups. He didn’t really like authority, either. He would never join the pack, for he wasn’t fond of the company of Natural Wolves or those trying to emulate them. Still, he didn’t like being tacked to one group, and preferred to be alone. Maybe every once and a while, he would speak to someone, simply asking for directions somewhere or if there had been any prey about recently. Though, he was usually targeted and harassed, though he enjoyed the thrill of the fight, so he never let it bother him. He pushed free of his thoughts and let the silence settle around them again before he finally spoke. ”I prefer to be alone. Big groups make me nervous, and I never really had a family, so I wouldn’t know what to do in a situation like that.” His voice was a low monotone, but yet soft, as if he had put a lot of thought into the statement. It slipped from his tongue like turpentine.
His life hadn’t been what one would call good. Though, it wasn’t much different than before he was a wolf. Still, it wasn’t as if he had it hard now. Actually, his life was fairly leisurely, and he could be content to simply watch the clouds roll by. It wasn’t to be though. He had to keep moving, keep himself busy. He didn’t want to be attached to one place, one lifestyle. Again, he freed himself from his thoughts and cast a sideways glance to Vira as she came to walk beside him again. His paw steps didn’t quite match hers because of his limp, but he tried his best to stay even with her. The silence had settled again, but he was content with it. Wolves could say all they wanted to with their bodies, and he could read it very well. Every other step his flank brushed against hers, and his tail swished back and forth behind him, signifying that he was at ease.
”What about you? Why do you choose to roam alone?” He was curious to know the answer. Surely she couldn’t have the same reason as he did. He felt awkward asking it, though, and avoided her gaze, reverting his eyes to the ground below him as his leg shot a bit of pain into his back. He stumbled a bit, but regained composure, and sneezed. She shook his head, and his ears swiveled in her direction so he could hear her response. He was conscious of her every move, and was trying to read her, and could sense that she had put her guard back up. This confused him a bit, though he had let his drop long ago. _______________________________

You have just been hit by a CLOSE ENCOUNTER. While traveling, Viradecthis has accidently stepped on a snake-hole and disturbed the snake before it could hibernate! She has been bitten on her right back leg and while not poisonous, the wound will surely be sore for a while and get infected if not cleaned!

Tension gathered in the fatales mind as she awaited Anubis’ response, satisfied that he had observed none of her thoughts or feelings about the entire situation. All the while she also contemplated the question she had presented him with, only assuming that he was probably curious of the same thing about her. He probably had a more valid reason for being a nomad than just being born that way; just because you were born stupid doesn’t mean you should try to get smarter. That was just it, though. Viradecthis had tried more than once to strike up a conversation with a stranger, put some trust in another wolf and even consider settling down. The fact that she was here with Anubis provided the end result to all such encounters but it made her feel stupid with how many times she tried only to get stepped on. In her past life, her mother and sister both told her that her extreme introverted mannerisms were crippling more than protecting her. Vira experienced them both but knew that her barrier was a better preventative than enabler.
Oddly, the gentle brush of Anubis’ flank against her own had gone unnoticed ‘til now as she had been attracted by the swishing motion of his tail. It didn’t really bother her because she assumed it wasn’t intentional and she turned back around to face the trail before them. Auds pricked to his inquiry and she smiled knowingly, amused at how he had phrased it. It wasn’t the exact question that she had asked, yet they both required the same answer.
Well, I’m not sure. I just know that I’m not good with authority, don’t care much for retrieving the past so The Loyalists would be a pointless group to dedicate myself to. The Pack… well, most native wolves take offense to me before they even know me. I don’t want a mate or family either, that I’ve carried since before I was a wolf. Just figured the Rogue life would be best, regardless of the burdens it carries.
Yes, in some circumstances there were more negatives to being a Rogue than either a Loyalist or Pack member. For one there was no one to watch your back – not that Vira would ever rely on anyone to do so – and hunting had to occur more often due to the prey being smaller, some nights for the shela did get cold. Then there were the nights when her human and wolf side united, for once, and made her feel lonely. Both species were social animals, Vira was just good at dealing with out it most of the time.
Quite suddenly, the bitch felt a sharp pain in the lower part of her right back leg. As it was on the opposite side of Anubis she disregarded him attacking her, and then wondered if it was a bee or thorns. The continuous burning and movement from the corner of her eyes confirmed things before she had time to think them. Naturally as well, and to her great disappointment, a muffled yelp mixed with a snarl escaped her as she stopped and quickly rotated around to spy what had pained her. A coiled up, slippery body couldn’t help but make her laugh in irony at how she had been comparing Anubis to a serpent just earlier, and now she had got bit by one. Reclining back slightly, she lifted her right leg up and pulled it to her muzzle before inclining her nose to it. She scent or tasted no venom, but that didn’t negate the burning sensation located in the area and the two pin-pricks of blood that spotted the ivory fur of the lower part of her leg. She set it down with some favoritism before looking at Anubis with an expression that was both mixed with amusement and exasperation.
Please tell me we are almost their, otherwise you'll be forced to carry me.
In a matter-of-fact tone, Viradecthis disregarded the bite as casually as if a pine-needle had got the best of her. Sneezing she trotted a few paces forward, occasionally walking on just three legs and teetering back and forth; all instinctively, so she had no control. Stopping, she looked back at Anubis with a surprisingly soft expression, though the desire to get angry was more then flaming in her hazel eyes.

Her movements were curious, but he brushed it off. Her response to his own question made him chuckle. So, she was quite like him. His thoughts on the whole situation had been nearly the same. Though, he wouldn’t mind having his humanity back, but the past was the past, and he had put that life behind him. Why cling to something that had given you no satisfaction in the first place. He had found no joy in his past life, and had no intention of holding onto it. Her response had amused him though, and he figured he would humor her with a response, as dull as it may be. ”You sound a lot like me. My reasons are nearly the same, though it does get a bit lonely living like this.” His statement was true, though he pressed the matter no further. He was caught off guard when she turned around, and he caught the scent of her blood. A snake, as well. He turned and looked as well, and backed up a few paces.
”That’s not good. You’ll have to have that tended to.” From here, he could see the cave on up the hill, and hoped that he would be able to make it up the steep embankment. Though, he had done it quite a few times. It still proved to be increasingly difficult with each passing day. The colder and wetter it got, the worse his leg was. The damned thing changed in severity with the weather. Right now, he figured he could make it, but not if he truly would have to carry Vira. So, he hurried toward it, limping just as badly as before. ”It’s right up this hill. Think you can make it?” There was a twinge of concern in his voice, and he stopped in the snow, turning to look back at her over his shoulder, and there was a flash of worry in his mahogany orbs, but he covered it up easily with an inclination of his head.
He pulled his bum leg up into his fur, trying to warm it, and then letting it rest in the snow again. He leaned around, gingerly licking at the scar that resided there. His numerous scars all held a story, and he could name all of them. If anyone ever asked, he would not be too cautious to answer them. Still, he had a bigger situation at hand, and he lifted his head again, looking back at her, watching her movements with a pang of sympathy. Snake bites could be deadly to a wolf. Unlike in their past lives, such things like penicillin and other antibiotics were nonexistent. There was really no way to treat an infection unless you knew the medicinal properties of the local herbs, which he did not. He tried his best to keep from getting injured for this simple fact. He gestured with his head for her to follow, and he started up the hill toward the warmth of the cave. He kept looking back over his shoulder to make sure she was making it up the hill alright, though his leg was making it a bit difficult for him as well. Still, he wasn’t too far ahead so he could stop and help if the need arose. _______________________________

Anubis’ words were adequate motivation for the female to continue on, regardless of the burning and tingling which continued to crawl up her leg. Aware that the serpent was not venomous simply by its appearance and the meager annoyance of its bite, Viradecthis was only concerned about the realistic possibility of the bite getting infected. Personal hygiene and constant grooming could only do so much from the experiences she had with fight wounds and the occasional run-in with nasty wait-a-minute vines. Though she was obviously in good shape now, the fae had never had a potentially life threatening encounter with a snake as neither a human nor a wolf ‘til now. It worried her because she was slightly familiar with the bacteria in many snake’s mouths, but a quick lick to the bite and Vira continued in her pursuit of Anubis and their hide-out.
Pausing at the very base of the incline, Vira looked up towards their intended target before her gaze shifted to the male. Just as quickly as he started to work his way up though, the bitch did the same. The bite wasn’t that hindering at this point but it made the joint sore for some reason. She still found herself involuntarily trotting up the cliff on just three legs, but having seen the brief concern displayed by Anubis she made sure to act casual. In order to lighten the mood, actually, Vira slackened her pace a bit to get squarely behind Anubis. She made a game of trying to grab and pull at his tail but made every attempt to look serious and ceased when the brute took notice, as if she weren’t doing a damn thing and some bird was grabbing him. Just as suddenly, the fatale made a move to flip Anubis by lowering her crown beneath his hindquarters and pushing it under his belly before lifting her head. She quickly shied away from him and trotted the rest of the way to the cave to avoid any retaliation in the case that her intentions had worked. Laying down at the brim, Vira peeked over the edge with innocence purely mixed with amusement as she barked at him, her leg twitching.

Anubis, simply to annoy her a bit, moved his tail a bit more, as he knew she was pulling at it. He laughed a bit when he turned around and she acted as if she wasn’t doing anything. He shook his head and continued forward. His leg was giving him a good bit of trouble, but it was still pretty easy for him to limp about as he ascended the hill. He was completely taken off guard though as she lifted him. He stumbled and fell face-first into the snow, hind-quarters in the air as she slid to a stop. He lifted his head, pulling himself upright again as he shook the snow from his fur. He growled and lunged the last few feet up to the cave. He favored his leg a bit, and tackled her. He let a low playful growl emit from his chest as he nipped and licked at her muzzle and ears. He clicked his teeth together and heaved himself to a standing position again. He limped further in the cave, mumbling to himself as he sent a mocking gaze over his shoulder at her, a smirk playing on his lips. He flicked his tail playfully and found a dry spot to lay down.
”Like I said, you are quite the odd one.” He smirked and rested his head on his paws, his eyes closing briefly as he let out a content sigh. He opened his eyes again after a moment and fixed them on her. He had been a practicing doctor in his past life, but he knew none of the local herbs, and he had forgotten most of what he had known. He let his body relax now that he was out of plain sight. He hated being out in the open, and the cave was a welcome relief now that he had been out and about all day long. He stretched a bit and relaxed on his side, closing his eyes and heaving a rather large sigh. He shifted and bit and yawned. He hadn’t realized until now that he was tired. Still, he opened his eyes once more and rolled onto his feet. ”Shall I take a look at that bite? I was a healer in my past life.” He shook his pelt a bit and padded over to her. He inclined his head, awaiting a response._______________________________

Masculine cadaver shifted as Viradecthis lowered her center of gravity in preparation for Anubis’ retaliation. A smirk was plainly displayed across her labrums at having toppled the brute even though he now pinned her to the ground. His antics were returned with incessant nips at his chest and pulling of the fur, after which she did not hesitate in grimacing at the hair plastered to her tongue. Hackles erected themselves when his licks went from her ears to her muzzle, though the reaction was not out of aggression. Abnormality was the stimulation and was equivalent to the hairs on a human’s body standing up. Because Vira was on her back and only slightly to her side however, the reaction could hardly be viewed by the male. The bitch quickly recovered anyhow and stood up just as soon as the brute withdrew, shaking herself of snow and debris before awkwardly stretching, her back leg handicapping her. Observant hazel eyes scanned the interior of the cave, politely staring at Anubis for a few seconds as he settled down. Vira too was yawning yet was far from being physically exhausted and blamed it more on her mental and emotional state. Going from an adrenaline rush from their original encounter to play and sincere affection was a mind spiraling sort of ordeal. This exhaustion didn’t show though which proved advantageous when Anubis approached Vira, surprise more than obvious in her expression at his offer.
Viradecthis recoiled slightly but it was not in complete decline of Anubis’ offer. In all honesty she wasn’t really sure what she should do as an internal war was presently going on. You know how this always ends, and you see how it started. He’s just acting aloof to get you comfortable and then he’ll do the same thing every male does, or get pissed because you won’t give it up. On the other paw: Okay fine, it did start out really bad – but that’s not so unusual. What is unusual is the fact that you both have not only had no problem carrying a conversation, but also managed to have fun. This could be a potential friend, or even mo… Halt! Hormones, memories and too many other things were getting involved.
Coughing, the female lay on her left side to expose her right leg, extending it slightly towards Anubis. The muscles and nerves were quivering and the leg had already begun to swell far beyond where the bite was. Vira remained upright and staring at Anubis, trying her best to decipher what was going on with him. Perhaps she’d feel better about things if she were enlightened on the males perception of her and them – though not them, just them. It proved pointless though, thus she settled her head down on her paws, brows twitching as she looked from Anubis to the cave.

Anubis took note of her discomfort and tilted his head a bit, sitting back on his haunches. He was curious as to her sudden discomfort. He curled his tail around his lower section once more, and shifted his weight uncomfortably. ”Is something wrong?” He asked, wanting to clear the air a bit. If she didn’t want him to take a look at her leg, he wouldn’t. He felt a bit awkward, but looked down as she stretched her leg toward him. He noticed the swelling and met her eyes for a moment. The best thing he could figure would to be to get the swelling down and maybe get it wrapped up in something to prevent it from getting dirty, but lack of resources limited his actions. He sighed a bit and took in the scent of the wound. No toxins were present as far as he could tell, so he saw no problem right now. As long as it didn’t get infected, she should be alright.
”There’s really nothing I can do other than to tell you to try to put a bit of ice on it to make the swelling go down. And there’s plenty of that considering the season.” He wondered slightly what she thought about this whole situation. They hadn’t met in a very friendly way, but here they were carrying on conversations and playing as if they had become friends already. He had tried to repress his hormones and keep them from driving his actions. In his mind, he was considering throwing caution to the wind and just attempting to woo her, though it seemed as if his nature would not allow it. He had let down quite a few of the walls he had built around himself, and the fact that he was playing was enough to indicate that he was becoming a bit more comfortable in her company. He felt it out of place to ask her about it though, and he kept his mouth shut. Still, the question remained; what did she think about him and about the whole situation as a whole?
Sighing a bit, and reclining on his rump once he had figured out that there was really nothing he could do, he focused his gaze on her once more. ”Would it be too much to ask what you’re thinking? You are awfully hard to read.” He tilted his head, and moved into a laying position. His long, slender forelegs stretched out in front of him and he held his head up, auds pricked forward awaiting her response. He had a regal air about him again, and his tone had been soft and reassuring. His voice hadn’t been the usual nasty snarling or sarcastic snorting. It was odd, even for someone as hot and cold as Anubis. _______________________________

Damnit! Femora silently cursed herself though concealed it externally with a exaggerated sigh. The brute wasn’t so intuitive to her thoughts that he could read her, but apparently she was displaying her insecurities and awkwardness excessively. Vira couldn’t do anything about the past but she scolded herself to remain more detached in the future. She avoided his question simply by letting her extended leg speak for itself. While he looked at her leg the bitch lifted her head to silently observe him; skull turned slightly away from him so her gaze approached him from the corner of elliptical depressions. Upon his address she full acknowledged him with a simple stare, nodding in approval of knowledge she already had. Anubis was just trying to be helpful after all though, and had she not of permitted him to look at it he probably would have been able to do something, knowing her luck.
Shifting uncomfortably from both her leg and the sudden tension, Viradecthis stood up and moved more to the side of the cave in order to lean against its walls. She lay facing Anubis with auds erect and right fore paw bent underneath it. Her injured leg was extended as it felt more comfortable in that position. Hazel orbs directed themselves upon the brute, sitting in his more typical regal and aloof manner. Briefly they stared at each other until his question caught her off guard. As was typical for Vira when in trouble or avoiding an issue, she looked quickly away from him and stared at the ground. For a moment all she heard was his tone and its sincerity before actually registering the words. Her assumptions were right in that she was at least coming off mostly indecipherable. The entire situation seemed unusual from beginning to end, then to have them both resting in the same cave – at least for now. Wait, was Vira insinuating she planned on leaving? Hardly, not with this damn snake bite. The sun had all but disappeared anyhow and risking the night with her injury would be stupid.
Processing his words, tones, actions and everything else that had gone on today, most of Viradecthis spoke of being honest and sincere just as he had been; or so she hoped he had been. Obviously he wasn’t trying to avoid things if he was so blunt in his inquiry, or maybe he was by figuring out how she felt about things. That brought up a whole new can of worms though, and as she finally looked back to his gaze she knew it would be contradicting to lie.
I’m thinking about a lot of things, Anubis. You figure we went from ripping each others throats out to… well, I just don’t know what to make of it. Part of me wants to trust you, befriend you. But with my own issues and having the knowledge I do about you, another part negates any good intentions I or you have.
Blunt, honest and too the point. Viradecthis was known to be no other way and her tone was no less crude. She was purely genuine however and her gaze much softer than her words. Body shifted uncomfortably, stiffening in every sense of the word as she waited for a fowl reaction. Vira was obviously accustomed to her honesty getting her into trouble, as she contemplated Anubis’ reply about liking being alone and what not. Most loners made bad friends and could not be trusted.

He chuckled slightly at her reaction. Of course, it was short lived, for her words were quit enough for him to quiet down. He let the silence build for a long moment, and he finally breathed a sigh. So, she was like him in a few ways, and not trusting someone very easily was another. He fixed his gaze on her once more, and he shook his head a bit, closing his eyes and inclining his head a bit. He didn’t look quite as regal and refined as he did before. He looked a bit dejected at her response, but he still squared his shoulders and looked to her, carefully choosing his words in his mind as he did so. The silence was nearly deafening, then he finally spoke.
”Viradecthis, it comes as no surprise that you will not trust me so easily, but despite that, I can assure you that I mean no ill intent. Part of me, and I honestly don’t even know how dominant that part of me is anymore, wants to remain as I was -- a loner. The other wishes to get to know you a bit better, and make a friend of you. It’s quite conflicting.” He looked down a bit and sighed again. Of course, his statement was sincere. Anyone with ears could tell that. He flexed his claws, the nails running over the cool stone of the cave floor. His voice had echoed around them, and it made him feel more than a little self-conscious.
He awaited her response rather awkwardly. He looked quite uncomfortable. Though, his guards were still down, and he tried to calm himself. Even if her response had sent a bit of an icy chill down his spine, and the hair on his shoulders was raised defensively. Her tone had riled him, but he had controlled himself so that he could speak civilly. Sure, their meeting hadn’t been exactly friendly, but still, there could be something here. And, how would they ever know unless they were willing to investigate it? He couldn’t really believe the way he was currently acting, and it unnerved him quite a bit. He felt like he was leaving himself too open, though he refused to put the walls back up. This was his first social encounter in a while, and he wasn’t about to ruin it for some silly issues he may have internally. _______________________________

From amusement to silence, Viradecthis was both concerned and once more caught off guard by Anubis’ reaction. He did not immediately aggress as she had assumed he would, yet the silence could easily lead to such circumstances which would simply be a repeat of how they had first greeted one another. The fae rolled more over on her chest at this thought and faintly whined from the throbbing in her leg, stiffening it slightly to give herself a more refined posture. The use of her full name caught her attention more sharply than if he had called her a name because he had never really used it. Anubis always just said ‘you’ or never directly referred to her at all, supposed the consequence of his nomadic characteristics. The full use of her name was almost like her parents using her first, middle and last name when she was in trouble. Her auds perked up in attention, hazel eyes cast to his in acknowledgement. Brows were furrowed in suspicion though, her body as tense as every and ready to recoil in both defense and attack should it be necessary. Once again he disarmed her as his reply came soft, sincere and kind. Her expression made it obvious that it was not the response she expected but it enabled her to relax once more against the cave wall. She stared blankly at him for much longer after he stopped speaking, understanding that they were both having the exact same conflict yet he seemed more satisfied with giving in, and she… well, Vira wasn’t sure.
To avoid it all together the shela suddenly stood up and looked out the mouth of the cavern. Everyone would think she was about to leave and in all honesty she was contemplating it. Instead she just stood silently, returning her gaze to Anubis with a sigh. Her leg had gone mildly numb from its position yet she still limped as she approached him. There was no aggression though her posture was still tense and her demeanor beguiling yet intense. She plopped down next to Anubis in an awkward fashion since she couldn’t do it probably with both a numb and injured leg and emitted a great huff.
Just go to sleep before you hurt yourself thinking to much.
Mildly concerned with how he may react to her actions, she made no further gestures and simply rested her head on her paws, closing her eyes though waiting for… something.

His eyes followed her as she stood and padded to the mouth of the cave. For a moment, he fancied that she seemed as though she was going to leave. But, he was a bit more confused when she walked back over him and fell to the floor beside him. He snorted at her statement, obviously not comfortable with having his words brushed off in such a manor. He looked away, running his eyes over the cave walls and occupying himself with counting the jutting stalactites that protruded from the ceiling and dripped water downward onto the relatively smooth cave floor. He remained silent, and finally acknowledging her statement. ”I’m afraid that it might not be possible at the moment. It seems that my insomnia has carried over from my past life. Sorry to disappoint you.” He cast her a sideways glance and slid his eyes back around to peer into the darkness.
He wasn’t really sure of what to say, but he decided not to press the matter any further than it had already been pressed. Leave sleeping dogs where they lie . . . Wasn’t that the old saying? He couldn’t remember, though, most of the memories from his past life were quite fuzzy, and he couldn’t make out names or faces any longer. He supposed it was simply the fact that he was no longer human. He had changed a lot since waking up as a wolf, and it still chilled him to think like that. The aggression of a male wolf was in him, where in his last life, he had been rather kind and caring. He had been a healer, after all. Still, it bothered him to realize how much he really had changed, even if there was really nothing he could do about it.
He sighed a bit and rested his head on his paws as well. His ears were flat against his skull in annoyance. Not with her presence, but with her stubborn, wanting to avoid the subject. Or, that’s how it seemed to him at the moment. He was fine with not talking about it any more, and was crowing more and more content with the silence. It calmed him for the moment, and finally gave him a chance to clear his mind. God knew he needed that at the moment. He breathed another heavy sigh and shook his head a bit. His ears swiveled around and listened to the noises around him. Something stirred outside the cave, and as he caught the scent, his mouth began to slaver. He rose to his paws, creeping toward the mouth of the cave with care. His paws were silent, even with his limp, and he stood stock still suddenly, his right forepaw lifted and curled.
There was another snow hare right in front of him, and it hadn’t noticed him yet. He smirked to himself as he waited for the right moment. He suddenly lunged forward, breaking into an awkward sprint. His teeth caught the animal easily, and he ended its life with a quick jerk of the rabbit’s neck. The vertebrae popped as he did so, and the animal went limp in his jaws, still other than the occasional twitch, which soon died down. He headed back inside the cave, dropping the plump rabbit at Vira’s paws before padding toward the back of the cave where he had made himself a bit of a bed from dry moss and leaves. He settled down, glad to be off the cold floor, and peered at Vira from across the cave.
”Don’t be dumb and refuse. You might need the protein to help promote effective healing.” He yawned slightly and stretched a bit, a small content smile playing on his lips as he scratched at his tattered ear.

The tension was back and it was by no cause of her own. Viradecthis had no desire to get too involved in her emotions and the technicalities of what could happen though, so she closed her eyes tighter and ignored Anubis for now. Her body tickled and was oddly more sensitive to the air cruising through the cavern or the smallest movements made by the male. Auds twitched and rotated in a fidgety manner, curious as to what the brute was doing but not so intent on finding out she’d take a look around. The bitch knew that if she truly expressed herself or made any attempt at keeping a friendship with Anubis, she’d feel stupid immediately after wards. It could be of no fault to the brute either, and she’d walk away three seconds after expressing herself and scrutinizing why she had said anything. This way she could simply lay down and pray that by morning Anubis had forgotten about it all. When she felt him move than just the normal shift, her head jerked up to stare directly at his rigid body. Though still limping he was doing very well at stalking… the snow? Vira, having paid no attention to anything but her eyelids and her subconscious, neither saw nor smelled the hare but assumed Anubis’ actions were valiant. When he lunged she knew that he had taken down something and the crackling of bone confirmed this. The fae laid her head back down so as not to come off as rude by staring at his prey, or making things awkward when he started eating it; not that she wanted it. So when he plopped it down before it she sort of jumped, startled and huffing with agitation as she glared at Anubis. His immediate defense was not worthy he debating, yet stubbornness kept her from keeping her mouth shut.
And of course you would know being the… healer? Is that the same as a doctor where you’re from?
Vira sort of pawed at the animal for a second, looking to the brujo as he settled down on a make-shift bed. Didn’t want you next to me anyways! A mindful retort as she genuinely glared at Anubis once more, him making her feel dumb for making any attempt at being ‘nice’ or ‘affectionate’ by laying next to him. True, getting blood in his nest would not be very good, but still…
She made quick work of de-furring the creature before opening the rabbit up. The sounds of ripping flesh and cracking bone echoed through out the cavern. Most spectators would assume this to be a matter of hierarchy yet she had made no attempt even looking mildly interested in his kill. The fact that he had offered it to her was still bewildering, but as she tasted the tender flesh and metallic blood she could care less, and though a large rabbit it didn’t take long to finish it off. She picked up the remains of the carcass and set it outside before going back in, reclining against the same spot she had been originally; limping and settling down just as awkwardly as before.
