Standing erect suddenly, masculine bitch growled fiercly with an ominously defensive posture; her motivation seemingly out of view by spectators. Lips curled up from lethal fangs while dark hackles bristled upon stiff shoulder blades and thick neck. Pointed ears were pinned to cerebral apex with her thick tail curled over the lower base of her spine. Vermillion blood shot hot adreniline through out restricted veins as the fae barely stood to her full height yet still appeared intimidating. An annoying ring vibrated her ears drums though the culprit was not silence - rather a reptile which no animal favoured and had no reason to be out in the winter. Viradecthis had experience with them when she was human but never feared them. As a wolf though, this was the first time she had come across one and didn't particularly know how to react.
As she had been in a relaxed mood this disruption was not welcomed, hence her rash behavior. Under normal circumstances the shela may have just snapped and recoiled stubbornly, but now she was determined to scare the creature away. The fact that she was having a stale-mate with a venomous snake didn't seemed to phase her, or how ridiculous she may appear to on-lookers who could not view what she was feuding with. The bitch was even more provoked by her impending estrus which infuriated her more than it made her flirtacious or affectionate. Her desire to remain clear of all males due to her nearing heat was set aside with the presence of this serpent and made an adequate mechanism for distraction.
Minutes passed with the atmosphere filling with growling, snapping and hissing from both Viradecthis and the snake. The creature was slow moving due to the cold weather but it eventually disappeared among some boulders. The femme made it a point to avoid the area and further distance herself from the snake before lying back down on the ground once more. She reclined against a large rock and gently panted, calming down after her peculiar encounter. Auds pricked upon her skull and lips creased into a meek smile as she closed her jaws, hazel eyes casting an observant gaze upon her surroundings. The wind which once whistled around her and ruffled her coat could not pass the boulder, enabling Vira to better hear. The Moorlands provided her with nothing more than minute dust and white patches of snow to gaze at. She hoped that her display and noises had not attracted unwanted attention as she preferred the nomadic and lonely life - mostly. Though not satisifed that she was completely alone she appeared to relax more with ears flicking erect at the smallest of noises. Her panting persisted up until she had calmed herself and cooled, which didn't take long with the winter weather. The lupine perked up at times when a rabbit popped up in the distance or the shadow of a bird rippled across her multi-hued bottle, but remained otherwise reserved for the moment.

Red fur was concealed behind a thick expanse of grass as he dropped into a hunting crouch. Mahogany eyes, well attuned to the shadows and motions of the moor, flicked back and forth eagerly in the dappled light that filtered through the vegetation. To an outside eye, he would seem lithe and stealthy as he moved over the ground, but upon a closer examination, one could see the jerking of the muscles in his back leg as his limp finally caught up with him. Suddenly, the mahogany orbs caught a bit of movement, and he stood stock still. His back leg raised, ready to sprint forward. There, in the reeds, was a rabbit, a warren hare. Exactly what he had been craving. He waited until he had an open shot, and lunged forward, jaws parted and chasing the rabbit for a moment before collapsing into the grass once more. He growled and tried to stretch his leg, cursing the bum thing as he watched his prey lope off into the distance. He stood, his long legs making him tower over the tall grass. He moved forward carefully, muscles tense from the sudden outburst of energy.
He was panting, despite the cold. His lungs froze with every intake of breath, and he tried to calm his breathing as his veins settled to ice once the hot rush of adrenaline had dispersed. He picked his way carefully through the grass, looking more like a fox on stilts. His left ear, nicked with a bit of a gap, perked forward as the sun displayed his scars in all their glory. The one on his face was the worst, stretching the full length of his snout. He had suddenly caught a scent, and it was nearly irresistible, even despite his nature. A fae nearing her heat. His paws carried him forward carefully, but of their own accord. He emerged near a rock, and his eyes settled on her. He felt rather awkward, and adjusted his distance, having came out rather close to her. He positioned himself a yard or so away from her, his auds swiveling forward in her direction as he limped into a sitting position.
He was still trying to get used to the natural instincts of the wolf. He hadn’t even meant to come over here, but it seemed as if he had no control when it came to a scent such as this. Even if she wasn’t in heat quite yet, the smell was strong enough to draw him away from his hunt. He curled his short tail around the bottom of his frame, and tilted his head a bit, simply studying her for a moment, wondering if he had seen her before. He doubted it. He hardly ever retained a face in his memory. Still, he felt as if he needed to say something, as not to seem more odd than he already did. Anubis’ lips parted, and his voice reverberated in a low octave, quite like an irritated growl. “Good morning.” He managed to say, though his face remained a stoic mask, unwilling to let his guard drop for even a moment. “Anubis.” He introduced himself as if it were the most bothersome thing to do, and he repositioned his eyes on the clouds.

Irony seeped into mental crevices upon the mascu’s appearance though the bitch proffered no exterior acknowledgement of his presence. His encroachment provoked a derisive engagement of the bruja’s and mascu’s gaze, yet he seemed intent on playing the ignorant charmer. Thus Vira erected herself dominantly and caudal appendage curled across her spine just as it had done with the snake. She viewed her opponent as just another vile serpent with despicable intentions; well aware that had her scent not been so fruitful the male would not be courting her. His very presence was antagonizing enough while his aloof attitude worsened her temper. The wench made no attempt at hiding these opinions and ideas which seemed to dance playfully and harshly amongst an already ominous expression. Hackles were barely raised but still made an impression and lips trembled in a grotesque manner to further display discontentment. Auditory sensors minutely twitched to the brute’s remark and introduction, but proved to be unfaithful in soothing her.
I care not for the time of day or your name.
Own vocals came out smooth and feminine which posed as a harsh contrast against her masculine features. Her tenor was well within the measurements of being considered cold and off-hand though, which may or may not provoke the brute as if her posture had not already. Viradecthis was without concern when it came to Anubis' thoughts and feelings or even impression of her. Harlot merely snapped derisively in the direction of his elongated muzzle though refused to retreat for the sake of her own pride and not swelling the males. Vira had been content for only a few minutes before she was intruded upon once more, and through experience she knew that Anubis would not be as easy to defeat as her before opponent. Oddly she appeared far less aggressive to the wolf yet more extreme in her temperament. The male’s presence was far less tolerable than a venomous snake which any spectator would find peculiar, if not insane. Yet on her side was, in fact, her impending heat. Females were not welcoming of lusty romancers until the middle of the estrus and that was only after long periods of affection, courtship and convincing. Vira would endure none of it and fight off any brute long after she became fertile and her body strived for sex. Her motivation was not the sanctity of her virginity or waiting for the prince charming that would never come. She just had no desire for pups or the possibility of an eternal relationship. The position was so male dominating and while she knew she would have control over the male the next few weeks should she consent, the idea was not bribery enough.
Though having nothing more to say and nothing more to do than put effort into low growls and an authoritative stance, Viradecthis remained stiff and holding a firm affection to holding her ground. She took one step towards Anubis in warning, taking into consideration that he probably would not back down. Hazel eyes kept his gaze even as he looked towards the firmament or his surroundings. This way he would have no choice but to make eye contact and thus see the full display of her displeasure. Muscles were tensed as well, anticipating an aggressive reaction from the male and eagerly awaiting his advance. Anubis would be able to view the expectancy even amongst the threatening antics and superior posture, thus the fae was content to wait for what followed.

Lips parted to display his displeasure at her response. Though, he honestly could care less. This was just another of his most bothersome instincts that he could not shake. In his mind, he would rather be trailing after that Snow Hare, limp or no limp. A low growl emitted from his chest, rumbling in his throat before leaking threateningly through his bared teeth. The fur on his shoulders rose in response to her movement toward him, and he placed one paw in front of him. He looked rather menacing, his growls becoming a bit more fierce. It didn’t take a lot to rile Anubis. He had a short fuse, and it burned down with lightening speed. He did not like the idea of fighting a female, for his humanity was still very much present, but if it came down to it, and she made the first move, he would have to oblige. Though, it was quite apparent that he would not be backing down anytime soon. His hormones had gone awry at her scent, and he couldn’t really control them.
”Watch your tone, Dear. You caught me in a good mood. Don’t make it go sour.” He snarled, the fur in his mane rising with the level of his discomfort. He hadn’t really wanted such an interaction on such a fine day. Though, he had come off as the jackass he had always seemed to be. Again, he could care less, he was not out to impress anyone, though in the back of his mind, his thoughts told a different story. He stepped toward her, taking in a breath, but not calming down quite yet. Once Anubis was put into one of these moods, it was hard for him to shake it off. He broke her gaze for a moment, before finding it again nearly as quickly. One of his biggest pet peeves was for someone to catch his gaze and hold it for any length of time. He didn’t like the expression in his eyes being read, for they revealed his innermost feeling. The eyes were the windows into the souls, correct?
He stepped off after that, breaking her gaze again and limping away from her, putting some distance between them before sitting back down and trying to control his breathing. Low growls still sounded, but he had decided it best not to pick a fight. Through clenched teeth, he spoke again. ”Pardon my intrusion. I was simply following my nose.” It really wasn’t an apology. It was a rare occurrence for him to apologize for anything. Though, he said it as though it greatly disturbed him to speak the words. His anger had died down a bit, his method of counting to ten seemingly working, even in this situation. Though, in the darkest regions of his brain, he half-way hoped for more harsh words. He enjoyed the adrenaline rush of an argument that could possibly lead to a fight. It thrilled him. But, for now, he left the next move up to her.

The situation became all too familiar to Viradecthis and her demeanor visibility transitioned from awkward to instinctive. Lids slowly lowered protectively across hazel eyes and her stature took on an even more extreme version of hostility. No longer was the bitch proffering her adversary warnings and gentle, cooing growls. Gullet now vibrated with the vilest of snarls so that her very heart seemed to rumble. Muscular legs elongated and shifted Vira into her full height, accepting the challenge which Anubis seemed to offer. Hackles were now completely erect and enlarged an already thickly muscled neck. Sinews beneath multi-hued pelt now undulated with adrenaline and preparation, tail cocking to her left side though remaining stiffly curled. Claws ripped at the topographical façade as the bitch closed the gap between the two wolves, each posturing and apparently sizing one another up to prepare for the fight.
Skull twisted around towards her right and closest to the brute, continuing to snarl and lick aggressively around her lips. Melanoid irises dominated once hazel optics while a lethal glare was cast maliciously the brute’s way. His constant attempts at breaking her gaze merely provoked her to stare harder, masculine frame pressing against the male’s own body once in response to his threatening words in obvious rebellion. His sudden recoil caused her to jump and snap, quickly swinging her posterior around to face Anubis as he retreated a few paces. Vira could not help but lift her ears in curiosity though her threatening posture remained otherwise the same. As his fake apology hit her ears they inclined once more and she rolled her eyes unenthusiastically, obviously disregarding his words. None the less she revealed a minute amount of respect for his withdrawal, though proffered nothing more than a nod in acknowledgement.
Well your nose has obviously led you astray Anubis, for your company is not desired.
With no spoken word of his apology Viradecthis reclined upon her haunches and stared apathetically towards Anubis. An unknown part of her was attempting to convince her into telling the male her name and act a bit more cordial, but all she could translate was contempt. This male was not a winter in any females book, otherwise he’d of not chosen the life of a rogue. Thus the bitch saw no point in attempting to ‘make friends’ when at the most they could be no less than enemies. She was not so willing to have an actual adversary though because there were enough of those between The Loyalists and The Pack. A frustrated whine escaped parted jaws in resentment of her next words as she took a lazy step towards Anubis, presenting no challenge.
My name is Viradecthis, though Vira is fine. And as long as you are going to force my tolerance of you, please stop with the white lies. I prefer honesty over lying any day.
Curt smile offered the brute no room for debate, panting slowly decreasing as she sat back down once more. Vira had stopped growling having found it pointless to continue, though her body language remained tense and less than friendly. The wench slowly permitted herself to lie uncomfortably on her chest, keeping her entire abdomen and chest cavity inches from the ground in case the male or any other decided to attack she could react quickly.

Anubis grew quiet as she spoke, simply processing her words. His nose seemingly had led him astray, though it was not a desire of his to even be here. Honestly, he didn’t know why he still was. He curled his tail around his body once more, and lifted his head a bit, bringing him out of the shadow and revealing his features a bit clearer. He wore his scars proudly, donning them like a true warrior. Even his horrible limp gave him a sense of pride, though he would never admit such a thing. He studied her, wondering why she had given in so easily. Though, he had as well, so he supposed they were even on that end. ’If my presence isn’t desired, then I could leave. All you need say is for me to leave.” His words, this time, were sincere. Usual, yes, but sincere nonetheless.
He shifted a bit, uncomfortable in his current position, and tilted his head, pricking his ears in her direction. He was quite annoyed by the whole situation, and wondering slightly if there was something else he would be doing at this moment. He couldn’t think of anything, and this whole encounter had become a very appreciated distraction from his normal day. He would usually hunt, prowl around the area for a while, simply scoping everything out, and then falling asleep somewhere sheltered. He hadn’t rested much recently, lying awake in his make-shift dens and watching the cold skies.
”Well, I would like to say it’s a pleasure to make your acquaintance, but it has seemed to be quite a bother. And I don’t lie very often, just simply refrain from telling the whole truth. I will grant you the fact that there is a fine line between the two, however.” His words were well chosen after a few moments of contemplation. He was being rather guarded, careful not to say the wrong thing, but not really knowing what the wrong thing was, exactly. It was hard to stray from something when you really don’t know what it is. A small frown began to tug at the corner of his mouth, and he avoided her gaze, not wanting to rile her once more, and for the simple fact that he hated looking others in the eyes. His gaze found the ground, and he watched as a spider crawled along the snow, leaving no indication that it had tread there. He found it quite interesting, but returned his gaze to Vira.
He really didn’t know of anything else to say, so he became content with remaining silent. He wasn’t much of a talker, anyway, and preferred the quiet of his own thoughts to sitting and conversing with someone. To be a wolf, he wasn’t social in the least. If he were to pick a side, he would more than likely choose the Loyalists, simply because they weren’t built like the Pack was. He doubted he could handle a family group after being alone for so long.

Observing what appeared to be nervous twitches made by the brute, Viradecthis accepted Anubis’ change in position as an acceptance of they both reaching a neutral agreement. She proffered him nothing in the way of acknowledging his scars, well aware of how he no doubt prized them like trophies. The bitch refused to be the ammo for the gun that was this male’s ego. A blank stared gave him simple acknowledgement with auds cast erect to his words. A genuinely amused laugh angelically escaped parted jowls at his sudden willingness to leave her be, shaking her head in bemusement. His sincerity was even more flattering yet contradicting on his part and Vira was the type to willingly point these things out.
Oh? I suppose I gave you the wrong impression then with the hostility and snapping and disrespect of your greeting. Reckon where you came from that translates to ‘Oh please woo me dear sir! I welcome you to my side!’.
Short chuckles escaped between words, this time refraining from mocking Anubis and simply presenting him with a rhetorical statement. They both knew better and she understood his returned aggression, though still found his previous vocal response to her dismissal gainsay. Hazel orbs favored the reflection of the sun against the snow and appeared brimmed with sallow light, now staring rather casually at the male. It was in her nature to always make eye contact with those she was socializing with, though knew it was often taken as a threat in the animal kingdom. The Loyalists understood her reasoning; The Pack didn’t, hence the increased fights with the latter. Should she ever look away while speaking she was distracted, lying or avoiding something. Anubis appeared altogether uncomfortable, still, with her constant stare. Viradecthis stared once at the ground as the silence fell between them before looking back at the brute as he spoke. A brief laugh escaped her once more to dismiss his words, shaking her head in dismay.
Oh the technicalities. Well for future reference, please refrain from all half truth. Hopefully you know that I can bear the scar of your honesty upon my heart.
Viradecthis winked disarmingly at Anubis to mock her last words, they both knowing that only physical inflictions would do her any real damage. Having now responded Viradecthis herself was quiet, with nothing more to say and not all that interested in vocal engagement. Go figure that two silent wolves should come across each other, have a firework display for a greeting, and now they both were receding to the complete opposite of placid and quiet. The fatale took it upon herself to lick gently at her front paws as well as remove shards of ice from between her pads. Vira still wasn’t relaxed but unlike most ‘normal wolves’, saw no problem with cleaning herself up a bit while either waiting for Anubis to say something or for him to leave. In the presence of natural born wolves – especially males while she was in season – others took it upon themselves to help in cleaning her. She briefly glanced at Anubis, contemplating this but immediately disregarding that he would ever comit the action; surely not the affectionate time.

Anubis eyed her carefully, and wondered a bit what his next action should be. He was surely not the affectionate type, and would never admit to such a thing; furthermore, he would not display that side of himself anyway, even if he had one to display. He was strictly business, though he let his muscles relax and the fur on his hackles finally fell. He sat back on his haunches, his ears doing a quick sweep of the area, listening out for any other approaching wolves. He heard none, and it comforted him for a moment as it finally registered in his mind that she had spoken. He let his eyes travel back to her, the mahogany orbs holding a faint hint of amusement, but with one sweep of his lashes, it was gone once more. ”I suppose I misread you. It happens, does it not? In my old home, it was not uncommon for one to greet another as such.” He winked a bit, deeming that he was simply kidding as he moved into a laying position. He felt a bit more comfortable now that they weren’t about to take out each other’s throats.
Though, as not to make himself bored, he let his tail, short as it may be, sweep over the ground carefully. It stirred the snow, and he watched as the powdery stuff drift into the open air. He shook a bit of it from his nose and sneezed slightly. He covered it up pretty well, though. His ears caught her next words with ease, and he looked back up from where his eyes previously rested on the snow. ”Don’t take offense to it. I’m like that with everyone. Though, I shall watch my tongue in future encounters. In case you haven’t noticed, I’m not the friendliest brute around. Though, I’m not the rudest by any means.” A sly twinge of a smirk formed on his lips, and he tilted his head in a curious manor, awaiting her next words.
This was truly interesting, and much more amusing that his hunt he had been having earlier. Though, he felt as though this conversation was a bit even. They were both giving the same responses. Easy it was for him to grow bored, but he was still amused, even for the moment. It took a lot to hold Anubis’ attention. He hardly ever found anyone amusing. This was a rare occurrence, and he could feel that, and became rather uncomfortable again. His instincts were getting the best of him once more, and his hormones were now messing up his train of thought. He brushed it off, trying to empty his mind and focus on the situation at hand. This was simply a conversation. Nothing more. Though, he was finding it increasingly difficult to convince himself of this. _________________________________

Delicate and pink tongue continued to gently caress extended limbs and paws, lying quite contently even before Anubis settled into a much more comfort and reassuring position. It could be taken as mockery and often was by the native wolves – as if being tense was a sign of respect. Viradecthis was just plainly displaying her confidence in herself and her abilities, revealing minute concern for the judgment of others. As she and Anubis already had their introductions in the way of extreme hostility only to result in formalities and moderate jesting on both their parts, what did she have to fear? Perhaps if Anubis showed signs of insanity or bi-polar disorder Vira would be on edge. Instead she lay silently with only the sound of her licking tickling her ears until the male spoke, with which she paused and smiled politely at him in acknowledgement. His wink was less than beguiling though a wag of her tail showed her instinctual excitement – obviously involuntary as she looked peculiarly at her hind end as if a snake had bit her. The incident was brief and she recovered with a quick nibble to her hindquarter, tending to an itch and eyeing Anubis’ own shifting tail before licking at her chest. She never enjoyed the feeling and taste of hair in her mouth – even if it was her own – but would sacrifice to not have to endure the grooming from another; quite awkward the first time when a male went towards the wrong end. Wasn’t proper human etiquette! The rare occasion Vira kept to her humanity was a time like that.
Continuing to groom her chest, Vira looked up occasionally to Anubis in observation while her auds rotated slowly upon her crown. She was listening to the environment just as she was, while also waiting for a remark to her last words. His response permitted her another chuckle as she looked up at him, licking her jaws to cast the hair from her tongue.
Well I can only assume that in the future, our encounters will be more hospitable.
Looking more and more at the brute, she couldn’t help but think he looked part fox, part alien. He didn’t look like the average wolf but Vira was not one to be considered close minded. He probably came from some foreign country, or could be some experiment. Then again he was an anthro wolf, so that was unlikely – the latter anyhow. Now eyeing Anubis less than skeptically and paying more attention to his body language, she could sense a different sort of tension. It wasn’t what had been present before – which she would be more than eager to deal with right now – but something much different. As a human she would not have mind being more than capable of handling herself and hardly interested in most men. As a wolf, her instincts remained the only thing she could really get no control over. Food and smells were okay, but this time of the year always struck her as odd. Two equal sides fought for control – the human side and the wolf side. Apparently Anubis was having the same problem, but he seemed more willing to give in to the animalistic part of his desires.
Smiling, Viradecthis stood up and stretched her back, yawning gently in an unobvious and innocent manner which she pulled off immaculately. Standing on all fours, single fore paw extended and swat at the brute’s nose though never touched it. Tip of her claws barely touched his nose, as if playing with a scorpion and trying to avoid the stinger. Vira was still reasonably young and while mature and serious, she enjoyed playing and teasing. This would be a mixture of both so as not to aggravate the brute – it was fun when she was a human, never ended well as a wolf though. She then barked at him repeatedly, as if a pup trying to get her litter mates to play. She knew Anubis wouldn’t know exactly how to react, but she had other things up her sleeve.
Moving quite suddenly towards him, Vira attempted to lie next to Anubis before rolling over – quite a large female to endure on top of you, really. She bit at his neck and barked some more, growling before standing up and jumping backwards, her maturity returning to avoid retaliation and view his response.

Anubis watched her carefully, sizing up her movements and looking away once he realized that he was staring. He didn’t want to seem weird or anything. Well, he had probably already assured that he was pinned as weird in her books. Still, he focused his attention on the world around him once more, turning only as she spoke again. He felt a small smile creeping onto his features. ”If you wish for them to, then yes, they will. I’m quite sure we can work something out in that department.” He really was fighting his animal side, though he found himself able to look back at her. He calmed his muscles, trying to appear as though he were more comfortable. He traced his claws on the snow, noticing now that is had stopped falling. Hopefully winter would let up soon. He preferred the summertime, for it reminded him of his old home in the Brazilian rainforests. He shook his broad head, getting the excess ice off the fur on his ears. He hadn’t realized it when it happened, but his accent -- not quite Spanish, but still Latin in nature -- had laced his words. In Brazil, they had spoken Portuguese. He had almost lost it once moving here, though it seemed to have stuck with him.
He noticed her looking at him quite a bit more. His ears perked forward, and a questioning flash appeared in his mahogany eyes. He lifted his head, watching her smile and stretch. He was a bit confused as to her intentions and nearly jumped backward as she swiped at his nose. He growled a bit, though it wasn’t in any sort of ill intent. He honestly didn’t like being treated like he was all playful and not the stoic warrior he claimed. Though, somewhere, in the deepest regions of his mind, he was amused, and wanted so badly to dive back into the days of his childhood and find some way to bring that part of him back. It was in vain. Still, he felt himself chuckle -- yeah, you heard me -- as she rolled over onto him. Though, she was a bit bigger than him, and he felt himself heave a breath as her weight disappeared once more, the tingling sensation from her bit still lingering on his neck as he fixed his eyes on her once more. ”Fine, if that’s how you wanna play.” His voice was laced with his accent once more, and he dropped into a bit of a mocking stance -- paws forward and stretched out on the ground, nose down, eyes cast up, rump in the air with his tail swaying a bit, and the hint of a mock growl emitting from his chest.
He would not make the next move, though. Oh, no, not likely at all. He couldn’t hide the small glimmer of a grin on his face, though, even with his muzzle pointed at the ground. His eyes were still on her, wondering if she would accept his gesture. Honestly, he really wouldn’t be doing this in any other setting, but his wolf side was urging him to do whatever it was that would get him on her good side. He was less willing to fight it than before, and it seemed as though he was simply going against his nature. But, to the careful eye, it was all underlying frustrations. He hadn’t been able to have a happy childhood in his homeland, and didn’t really even know how to play -- be it wolf or human. With the poverty and struggles they had endured, along with the enslavement of their village, Anubis had no time to learn such trivial things as playing and being a child. From the time he emerged from the womb, he had been raised as a warrior, and he had kept it this way for a long time. But, on occasion, his subconscious began to run amok, and this was one of those times. So, he simply let go of those thoughts to be guarded, and realized, rather quickly, that he enjoyed the feeling. _________________________________

His growl presented her with reassurance that her withdraw was worth the effort, not yet fully correct in reading Anubis and all his many expressions. His chuckle relieved her to some extent though and she turned her head shyly away from him, eyeing him with a single hazel orb which glistened with innocence and mischief. The reaction she had expected was not the reaction she was offered. She recalled his sudden huff when her masculine frame had so elegantly rolled onto his and could not hold back a smile. They both displayed their callous exteriors and were probably quite stoic on the inside, but whether in be the wolf in them or something from their past lives, Viradecthis and Anubis both had a milder side. She wouldn’t doubt they couldn’t contribute something to one another – even small – but she liked to see every encounter as beneficial. This one, disregarding how it started out, may prove better than most. By the looks of it, Anubis was thinking the same thing.
A deeply accented remark brought her back to attention and she stared directly at him now – flirtatiously and with a quirked brow. His posturing was momentarily returned, hardly caught off guard by the fact that he didn’t make the first move. Vira was more than accustomed to making the first move her entire life – whether aggressively to play or aggressively to fight. The fact that it wasn’t the latter was genuinely peculiar, but the fae didn’t let it trouble her.
For a few minutes, Viradecthis permitted them both to stare at each other and leave Anubis guessing her next move. Only once she could sense the brute truly letting his guard down did she initiate the ‘game’. At first, the multi-hued bitch dodged back and forth, kicking up snow and barking rapidly at Anubis. Though panting she was not out of breath, rather excited as she crow hopped at the male with every intention of landing on his left side, up towards his shoulder blades. Posterior was coincidentally curved towards his skull yet the nips, nibbles and jerks to his neck and ears were plenty to distract him; possibly. Her weight was uniquely balanced on her hindquarters so as not to put too much weight on Anubis; questioning his strength internally based on his lanky exterior.
Once more she withdrew, but not creating as much space as before. Rolling on her back Vira curled her body to bite at his front legs, whining and barking in a low tone before flipping back over and running a few paces to initiate a game of chase. Anubis may be in shape, but Vira had not done much in the way of exercise lately aside from hunting.

Anubis was taken off guard by her sudden movements, and he smirked, returning her nips and barks with just as much enthusiasm. Though, as she rolled over onto her back, he placed a paw on her chest, wondering slightly if more could come from this encounter than he had originally anticipated. He hadn’t been this carefree in a while, though he wasn’t about to speak and ruin it. His eyes landed on hers for a moment and he breathed a sigh. He had sat up straight by now, his right forepaw resting gently on her chest as he tilted his head in curiosity. ”You are rather odd, aren’t you?” He had broken his silent code of not speaking, though it really didn’t matter to him, and he watched as she took off, wondering if he should try to give chase. He looked at his hind right leg and sighed, standing and trying to put a bit of weight on it. He seemed satisfied and lunged forward, regretting it instantly as the pain in his leg caused him to limp to a stop. His hunt earlier must have stretched the muscles beyond what they were used to, and he really didn’t get much of a break. His muscles had been tense sense arriving in Vira’s presence.
”Blasted leg. Might as well chop the damned thing off.” He growled under his breath and sighed, limping toward her and coming to rest in a sitting position. He wrapped his tail around his lower body quite closely and he looked to her. Despite his limp and his scars, his current appearance, sitting so still and statue-like, combined with his accent, made him seem quite refined, and he looked to be in thought. Regal, some would say, even if this brute came from dirt-floor poverty in South America. Still, his slightly tattered ear swept around them again, scanning for any sort of movement. That’s why he hated the snow. It muffled nearly every move one made. One had to really strain their ears in order to her the stealthy approaching. Still, he could catch no scents on the breeze, and he was comforted by that fact.
Still, he reached a paw out and cuffed her ear, letting it fall back to the snow as a smile decorated his scarred features. He didn’t feel right leaving it at that, and had to get her back despite how he had begun to limp. He couldn’t leave the battle on hiatus, though a battle it was not. Simply a play fight, something he had never been familiar with in the first place. Though, he was quite glad for it now, and he tilted his head. ”Sorry about that. My joint gets rather tired on cold, wet days. It will be better before too long.” _________________________________

Apparently her previous grooming had gone to waste now that Anubis was slobbering on her as he bit her in return. This was something she didn’t think about ‘til now, but realized that was why she never played before yet it never bothered her when fighting. She could still feel the impression of his paw on her chest as she breathed before growling with false offense to his inquiry.
I usually get that response upon first sight, so I’ll congratulate you for holding off so long.
A half smile revealed her play while also her sincerity in the words – constantly judged and ridiculed for her masculine appearance. It was where all her scars came from really, as few females dare take her on and those who did often regretted it. Anubis appeared to be the same sort of creature with his battle scars, and as he took off after her she considered him to be worse off than she. Now she understood why the rabbit got away – not entirely by chance that had decided to pursue her instead. Yes, she had seen it but had not really thought about it ‘til now. Immediately, Viradecthis stopped with some apprehension on her face. Concerned that he may return to his normal ‘bad ass’ self, Vira lowered her head before helping to close the distance as he limped over to her. Her own expression stiffened as she too sat down, thinking silently to herself about how she had let it slip her mind the scar on her low abdomen. It curled around her right leg – or was it her left? Vira hardly remembered as she scarcely had to worry about it; her underbelly was revealed only to the ground. Regardless, the scar didn’t show itself for the most part on her haunch, but it was plain as day on her belly. It was her first encounter with a full grown and mature male wolf – wild as could be. One sharp canine tooth and Vira scampering away created the mark. The bitch couldn’t help but growl in frustration from the embarrassment.
A paw to the snout was a good way to get her back on track, and quickly the masculine fae perked up. She looked at Anubis with no sympathy really as we all had our vices – physical and otherwise. His remark caused her to grin again, but without any innocence.
Yes, I can imagine something as stiff as that might bother you.
Her expression was solid and serious, no laugh and no sign or hint of a joke. On the inside she was ready to break, feeling like an immature 12 year old attempting to play serious. Vira settled down on her chest and buried her nose in the snow, sniffing and burrowing before getting a large pile on her muzzle. She flicked it in Anubis’ direction to distract him before leaping up and attempting to tackle him – cautious of his leg this time as she was unaware of it ‘til now. She kept her body low to the ground to keep it close to his own body – in the case that she tackled him – before playing a game of tug-o-war with his ear, and mixing between biting and licking his muzzle. Vira herself was becoming more relaxed though the fact that he may have seen her scar – or may be upset about her seeing his limp – still hung in the back of her mind.

Anubis had always been self conscious about his limp. He didn’t like to show weakness that easily. Of course, it was all to often that it did show. Quite like the scars on his face, he really couldn’t escape it. It molded him and made him who he was. If it hindered his ability to hunt as well as fight, then so be it. Still, he had been able to hold his own for this long, and had the scars to prove it. The limp, as well as the many jagged marks, pinned him as a survivor, and he was quite proud of that fact. He watched her close the distance and he clicked his teeth together in one quick motion of dismissal. ”Holding off had nothing to do with it. Just stating what I can see.” He smirked, and chuckled lightly as he saw her bury her nose in the snow. He was pleasantly surprised when she threw the snow toward him, and he was distracted just long enough for her to tackle him. He fell to the ground under her and let a playful growl rise up from his chest, his tail wagging despite his better judgment. Her gestures of licking and biting made him smirk, and he gathered the strength and attempted to roll her over.
He nipped playfully at her scruff, and carefully placed a forepaw on either side of her head, leaning his head down to gaze at her mischievously. ”Who has the upper hand now, then, hm?” The smirk on his face was hard to hide, and his paws flexed to where his claws left little marks in the snow and ice. Honestly, he was getting rather cold with the setting sun, and figured he might need to find somewhere to hunker down for the night. He wondered if he should invite Vira along, or is she would simply deny him and go her own way. Either way was fine with him, as long as he could get warm and fast. He could already feel his toes going numb.
He moved from atop her after playfully licking and nipping at her muzzle, just as she had done. He cast his eyes to the west, where the sun was sinking below the horizon. He had spent nearly all day out here and he looked back to Vira after a moment. ”Are you interested in getting warm, maybe? The chill will only get worse the further the sun sinks.” His voice was soft, and his eyes were steady on her. He seemed more sure of himself now, and he kept his head up as he lifted his hind right leg gingerly. ”I know of a cave set not to far from here. It can provide quite efficient shelter for the time being.” He didn’t want to leave her out here in the cold, though it was quite obvious that she could handle herself. He just thought he should offer. Why not play the chivalrous role for a moment? _________________________________

Disregarding is comment for the moment, Vira and concentrated on keeping the brute to the ground. Of all the times she had been in close contact with wolves – never once being anything other than fighting – she never had time to feel the warmth of another body, or their fur and bones. It reminded her of her past life, the boyfriend she was forced to leave behind. Luckily she was past being love-sick and Anubis prevailed in flipping her over just in time to distract her from her thoughts and emotions. As he started nipping at her she bared her own fangs playfully, the whites of her eyes revealed as she curled her head around to try and bite at his back leg and avoid his nips. Lips quivered at his remark, hind legs gathering beneath him to try and push him off. He moved simultaneously and she immediately rolled over, sensing a change but still prepared to continue. She followed his gaze as he looked around and Vira stood suddenly, worried that others wolves or predators had snuck up on them. Aerial sensors were erect and caudal appendage cocked dominantly, prepared to fight just as suddenly as she had decided to play with Anubis. A sneeze broke the silence from the flakes that had gathered in her nose and, having melted, tickled her nose coming out. Fore paw lifted to scratch her face before shaking herself off of all snow and debris. Expression changed just as soon as Anubis offered they seek, basically, a den for the night. Skull cocked to one side and she looked at him critically. For one it wasn’t really that cold – though he was not very well prepared for cold weather based on his looks – and wasn’t this the wolf who just wanted to rip her throat out? She couldn’t say anything considering she had the same intentions only to initiate a wrestling match, but her surprise was none the less evident.
Warmth? I hadn’t realized it was getting dark or that it was cold, but I reckon I’m just fluffier than you.
Her remark was quite aloof yet at the same time arrogant, as if being fluffier was superior. Sarcasm dripped from every word though as she trotted a few paces past Anubis – hardly neglectful in ensuring she brushed against his side – before pausing with her head erect and looking around.
So where’s this cave?
Simple inquiry, great way of avoiding an actual acceptance to Anubis offer; but in all reality she was. Having brushed by Anubis and playing with him for only a small amount of time, it seemed, she could smell his musk already on her. She didn’t know if it was emitted out of habit or instinct, or he was just a cologne covered brute, but she could smell it. This didn’t cover up her own smell which she swore grew stronger – not a good sign, but obvious in happening not only with a new wolf being around, but a male at that. Tail lowered slightly, concerned that Anubis more aggressive instincts may come back. For once she was having a decent time with another wolf who actually had flaws and didn’t act perfect. Their original encounter seemed forgotten as she turned around to look back at Anubis, wagging her tail involuntarily as she waited.
