BOTH 'SPECIES' ARE KNOWLEDGEABLE AND NEITHER ARE THAT MUCH SMARTER THAN THE OTHER. EACH SPECIES HAS LEARNED IN DIFFERENT WAYS AND OBTAINED THEIR KNOWLEDGE IN DIFFERENT WAYS. THIS IS THE BIGGEST RULE TO UNDERSTAND, NOT FOLLOW! - natural wolves may know a plant is poisonous by its smell, trial and error or wisdom passed down from older pack members. a human-gone-wolf may know the same plant is poisonous because of how it's shaped or because they know what the plant is and know that it's bad for them. same knowledge, obtained and experienced differently. get it?
Also, neither the Loyalists or Pack members have defined personalities, so you don't have to 'fit the bill'. Your character chooses to be with one side or the other for their own reasons and that's all that matters; even if you were a psychotic murder as a human and still hold those traits as a wolf.
applying
oo1. You may have multiple characters to one account or seperate accounts for each character. Just make sure you can keep up with your characters if you keep them on one account.
oo2. If you are incapable of finishing your application, be sure to put WIP or INCOMPLETE somewhere in your title otherwise it will be assumed to be complete and thus denied.
oo3. While on the topic, please finish your application in a timely manner. Don't post it as incomplete and one week later it's still not finished.
oo4. Fill out every part of the application as elaborately as possible. Don't leave anything out. However, all wolves must start at the bottom of the heirarchy unless previously discussed with the owner or co-owner. Pack wolves must be Omega. Loyalists must be Followers. Ranks are gained IC.
oo5. There's no limit on the amount of characters you can have. However, if some of your characters are found to be inactive - flat out not being role-played regardless of the circumstances - you will be asked to either start role-playing with them or delete them.
oo6. Obviously no 'perfect' characters are permitted - hence the need for flaws in the application process. If a character seems too perfect, you will be asked to edit it.
oo7. NO ODD COLOURS OR MARKINGS! This means no white star on your characters forehead. This site is realistic, okay? Your character's eyes may be the colour of any NORMAL HUMAN eye colour. Thus any REALISTIC shade of: brown, green, blue, hazel or yellow (since wolves themselves have yellow eyes) No reds or purples, got it?
oo8. If your character, as a human, had any scars - whether from surgery, an accident or being attacked by an extremely aggressive squirrel - then your character as a wolf will have those scars. If your character, as a human, had one leg, hip problems, back problems etc., then they will have it as a wolf. Any FRESH injuries will go away upon transitioning to a wolf.
oo9. Don't plagarize, alright? Do all your own work. Your character needs to be unique - it can't be if you're using someone elses work.
o1o. Be sure to do research on your character as far as the characteristics of a wolf. If your character is a timber wolf, arctic wolf, etheopean wolf - whatever - make sure the appearance fits the characteristics of your chosen wolf. Some of your human physical attributes can play into your characters appearance, but just because you were a body builder as a human doesn't mean your timber wolf will be super muscular.
o11. Through out the application process and the information on the site, you will see the terms Anthro Wolf and Human-Gone-Wolf and Natural Born Wolf. Anthro Wolf and Human-Gone-Wolf refer to those characters who started out human, were bitten by a wolf and are now a wolf themselves. Natural Born Wolf are wild wolves that never had a past life.
out of character
oo1. No Out of Character in the In Character boards unless asking a question pertaining to the thread.
oo2. Be respectful to everyone and NO conflicts need to be brought to the OOC board(s).
oo3. Respect the Staff. You don't have to obey them as if they are Dictators, but do understand that they are the Law in DARLiNG.
oo4. Respectful discussion of any ideas and problems with Staff, whether on the FAQ board or through PM, is openly welcome. Rude comments and messages will be ignored and the culprit warned.
oo5. There is no certain way to get deleted on the site. Staff are extremely patient and are not out their to corrupt members. For the most part, you get a warning for the minor things such as meager disobediance of rules. Repeat offenders will be banned if not deleted, and intentional disrespect of ANY member of the site will also result in being deleted.
in character
oo1. Realize that some characters USED to be humans. This means they can have human qualities or be completely 'human' but in a wolf body. Your characters still hold the majority of the intelligence they had as humans. These characters have the benefit of once being human and what goes along with being human (intelligence && wisdom, mainly).
oo2. Characters that were naturally born - are straight wolves and were never human - have very few human qualities, if any. They may have some knowledge from experiences with wolves that used to be human. Wolves, like most animals, do have emotions though and are not dumb. Emotions and intelligence just don't always play as much a role in a normal wolve's life as a human-gone-wolf. These characters have the benefit of always being a wolf and goes along with being a wolf (instinct && greater cooperation, mainly).
oo3. Obviously you need to be realistic with role-playing in general, especially things like fighting and being realistic with your characters age and experiences.
oo4. Literacy is expected. There's no exact word count requirement, but one-liners are STRICTLY forbidden as well as a three sentence reply to a 3 paragraph post.
oo5. You may post anywhere; no land is specific for Loyalist or Pack, just that The Valley is where the Pack members reside and The Mountains is more for The Loyalists. Also, put effort into your posts and replies - take into consideration how much effort was put into the post you are replying to.
oo6. Do not get involved in an excessive amount of threads that you cannot remain comitted to. There is no limit to the amount of threads you can be involved in, but typically 3 is good for everyone.
oo7. Fighting is often a big issue of discussion. Again, remain realistic. You may not kill another character without the owner's consent, but a 2 month old pup will not survive an intentionally lethal attack by a full grown wolf.
oo8. A father or mother may kill their offspring without permission from the other parent EXCEPT when the offspring are being role-played by someone other than the mother or father.
oo9. Obviously no god-moding or power-playing. Don't try and control another character and don't make your character all powerful. (Do not claim to have attacked another wolf and bit them and/or ripped flesh from their bodies without the other person specifically stating that the attack made contact and explaining the effects.)
o1o. Rape is also an issue with some people. It is permitted but must be done over PM and both members must consent to the engagement of force-breeding. Descriptive breeding is also permited.
o11. Your character(s) do need to age appropriately. They do not need to grow a year older at the exact time they are supposed to, but you cannot have a character that does not age at all.
o12. Do not re-cycle posts. It's cheap, lazy and insults those who you are role-playing with.
o13. Don't plagarize in your posts, okay? For the most part, Staff will know how you role-play. If you suddenly get sophisticated or sloppy, we'll notice.
o14. Breeding starts in the middleb of winter and ends around sprint time. Birthing is typically in summer.
o15. On that note, you don't have to breed. Naturally born wolves will be more apt to because it's in their nature, but the humans-gone-wolves will be more apt to think about it versus naturally born wolves where it is natural and instinctual to breed.[/blockquote]
